Cloverleaf is a dramatic coming of age story about Clover Dorrance, a teenage girl who gets bullied and into fights at school. When she is suspended by the principal the High School wrestling coach decides to help her and teach her how to wrestle. After Clover’s mother passes away, she drops out of school and runs away from her problems. Once she hits rock bottom the coach finds her and helps her realize her dreams but not before revealing a huge secret.
John is the president of the Syracuse International Film Festival now in its 19th season and has produced three feature films. He wrote the screenplay Cloverleaf which received recognition as a quarterfinalist for the Final Draft Big Break Competition, garnering an award as one of the top 3% of scripts received out of nearly 15,000 entries.
Director John Ginty sees “Cloverleaf”, as a gritty and visceral experience that often blurs the line between the fantastic and reality to create a nuanced experience that both fans of professional wrestling and fans of independent cinema will enjoy.
